Darcy Drayer Davies
Fought courageously
The foundation was created by Deanna Bledsoe (Drayer) to honor the life of her sister Darcy Davies (Drayer), who fought a courageous battle against Esophageal Cancer.
Battling cancer of any kind can take a toll on individuals as well as the family that supports them. The goal of the Delta Dawn Foundation is to assist the patient and their family financially to help alleviate some hardships so they can focus on their treatment and healing.
Darcy and her sister, Deanna were big fans of the song of the same name Delta Dawn by Tanya Tucker and were known to belt it out anytime it came on the radio. This was a tradition from when they were young girls.
Darcy graduated from the University of Central Florida with a degree in Art. While at UCF she received both recognition and awards for her talent. Darcy’s adventurous spirit took her from New York to Europe where she, along with several friends, opened a pizza restaurant in Prague, Czechoslovakia. She traveled from Prague to London and several places in between. Darcy was right at home in her garden or cooking her favorite dishes and found her calling being a mom to two beautiful girls and a dog named Rio.
